Ekdahl Moisturizer

Posted on December 21st, 2010

The Ekdahl Moisturizer is a synth built around a spring-reverb, and it sounds incredible!

It’s played by manipulating the springs of the reverb. The springs are then cross-modulated and filtered to create som pretty extreme sounds.

The comments on youtube sums it up pretty well:

“absolutely nauseating. learn to play your instrument! ” /RoboticusMusic

“Huh?” /devojane

“!!! Fett som stryk !!!” /donkaries

TAL DUB II – Put stuf through it!

I really like this delay, it always gives the song a bit more of that warm feeling. probably because you can modulate the time of the delay with the lfo. Other than that it just makes everything sound warm and dirty. I especially like to put it as a send and drive lots of different channels through it. dubdubdubdubdubdubdub…. =)

All their VST:s are nice! go check them out!

Nick’s world of Synthesizers

Posted on December 19th, 2010

There are many DIY’ers on the Interwebs, making their own, unique synths and noisemachines.

But just take a look at what this gentleman has constructed!

I have been making electronic musical instruments for about 10 years. With all my inventions I am trying to make something special that you can’t buy anywhere. Some people spend thousands of pounds on rare analogue stuff, I spend hundreds of hours making my own and end up with something that is unique not just rare.

I start with an idea that comes to me in an instant and then design it roughly on paper. If it is a good idea then I become so obsessed with owning it for real that I spend months slaving away in my bedroom and actually make it.

The simplest synth that could possibly rock!

Shruthi-1 – Mutable Instruments

I promised some diy-stuf so why not start off with the shruthi-1? Its a synth kit you can buy from Oliver at Mutable Instruments. It is a wavetable synth with a real analog filter and lots of fancy features like arpeggiator, analog style sequencer, a wide range of modulation destinations.  As you can guess i have built one of these and i have used it in pretty much every song iv made since it was finished.

People have been building some really pretty custom cases, every week there is a nice design surprise at the forum!

Its a really friendly forum, the synth is easy to build,  sounds great and is dirt cheap!

Enjoy some pitcures:

Tape Rewinding Machine

Posted on December 16th, 2010

My good friend nordloef found this beauty at a secondhand shop in växjö. It is a tape rewinding machine made by EGA Service AB i Lindingö and used by “Talkboksbiblioteket sydost”.
He didnt even blink. He just bought it and now he is probably the happiest person in the world.

I would love to get my hands on that piece of white plastic! No product apple makes could ever be as sexy! (even if they are white)
