WTPA2 – Almost here!

Posted on July 31st, 2011

The WTPA (Where’s the party at?) was a DIY sampler-kit, designed by a nice gentleman called Todd Bailey.

As far as I know it was the only DIY sampler-kit out there, and right now he’s working on the next generation of it.

Planning for Dragonfly

Posted on July 26th, 2011

Pakir & I has been planning a little bit for the Dragonfly Festival this summer. We like to draw lines in between boxes, both in computers and on paper. This is what we came up with!
A bit messy but the picture speaks for itself. See you there!

…and bring your damn iPhones, sMartPhones, toy keyboards, guitars, drums and other noisemakingstuffs. We have mixers and sound systems!

Clipping Diode Experiment

Posted on July 24th, 2011

After working on a 3-channel mixer for a friend i started thinking about diode clipping the output of that mixer to get some extreme distortion effect. (it has quite a lot of gain) I had seen some pitcure of how clipping worked but i didnt realize how easy it was! Just connect the diodes between the signal and ground, if the signal is to loud it goes to ground and gets silenced by the diode. It clips. I had to try it! So after hooking up two tele-jacks with the diodes (as seen in the pitcures) i fed it some different waveforms from my nordlead, starting of with a triangle to see if i could get it to clip, and it did! But it didnt have enough gain to get it to clip properly so i fed it through a mixer to crush it in to the poor diodes with a little more power. The results can be heard and seen in this post. There is even a little scematic i found somewhere. The clipping i used was hard symmetrical clipping. (I really like how it reacts to a sawtooth with full resonance on the filter.)

AudioGL – Modular 3D Music Program

Posted on July 1st, 2011

I havnt had my mind blown like this since 1996 when i fooled around with FT2 for the first time. Im speechless! And it takes pretty much to impress me with a music-program. I want this now! Its like a wet dream of every nice program iv ever tried. The modularity of MAX/MSP, Buzz-Tracker & PD. The Beuty of a Farbrausch demo. It makes me not want to buy a modular synthesizer! I love that you seem to build your music out of envelopes and that you can see them at work in a 3D-view.  Dare i say that is is the future of musical programs? I want it to be!
Stop reading my silly text and look at the videos!!!
